For Grade 10 students who have just entered the high school, CWA's FP provides essential building blocks required for the successful entry into IBDP from four aspects: language enhancement, subject knowledge, learning methods, and attitude and value development. All these will support the transition from a Chinese middle school student to an international high school student, and significantly reduces challenges in IBDP stage. As a result, students will achieve better academic outcomes.
CWA has chosen IB curriculum that UWC takes, which is globally recognized as a curriculum system which cultivates students’ holistic development. UWC is a pioneer in using IB curriculum system worldwide. IB learning consists of 6 subject groups that can effectively help students build an integrated system in basic knowledge and choose difficulty level according to subjects students are good at. Meanwhile, IB focuses on fostering comprehensive competency beyond academic learning: it also includes TOK, CAS, and EE, which are crucial components in university application.

CWA creatively mixes its STEM curriculum system with Tsinghua University High School. Most Chinese students are not weak in learning subject knowledge and taking examinations. The real difficulty is how to do scientific research and projects, and how to write essays and finish defenses. With the dual support of FP and STEM curriculum, CWA Year 1 students will be familiar with the process of independent topic confirmation, experiment design, research, reflection, and summary. Not only can IBDP help students acquire good scores in IBDP, it also mixes Chinese-Western mind advantages, which prepares students well for future overseas college study and life and inspire more potentials in them.
In the IBDP years, CWA will draw on UWC's significant experience in the IB field, share the teaching resources from UWC Changshu China, and continuously carry out joint activities, for example, lesson planning, teaching, and research exchanges. Meanwhile, CWA will actively carry out bilingual education in Science and Math to further develop the academic advantages of Chinese students, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of Chinese students in international curriculum.
The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) in CWA cooperates with Tsinghua University High School. The school prompts students to observe in life, explore an interest, take action, persist in love, and develop individual projects and researches. It is not only a preparation for entry into globally renowned universities but also an opportunity to turn into a future change-maker with a humanitarian perspective.
