CWA will prepare students to combine Chinese and Universal values and scientific talent to make the world a better place
A good school is as good as its teachers and students. Academic outcomes, Universities offers and teachers’ quality are concrete elements to evaluate a school.
But we need to go further if we want every student to find his / her path to happiness and success.
As a young person in order to be successful in life, you need to enhance and develop your talents, passion and energy but also get the support of elders who have experience and wisdom.
CWA is young but is drawing its ambition from the support of UWC Changshu and Tsinghua University High School as well as from the directions given by the world renowned IBDP curriculum.
This represents the best of both worlds to create a unique educational environment where students understand that the time and the energy they are putting in their academic and personal development is relevant to the numerous challenges of “the real world”; this is a source of motivation and creativity.
Students need to be mentally prepared to find inner motivation to enhance their motivation and their ambitions.
Creating this growth mindset culture in a school relies on several factors:
. A positive relationship between teachers and students
. An environment where students are encouraged to participate, take risks and have less fear of failure
CWA being a residential school will build not only a “home away from home” climate and environment but will reinforce on a daily base the values guiding its vision and mission. This of course needs organization, policies, and policies’ monitoring but also a deep understanding of adolescents as a group as well as individuals to cultivate personal and collective fulfillment.
Building a safe environment (intellectually and physically) as we are gradually asserting a positive and progressive image will reassure all our stake holders. But we also need to make sure that academic achievements are CWA’s norms while we enable students to choose subjects and projects that are meeting their needs and aspirations.
This will boost our relationships with parents to build trust and confidence in the CWA’s model.
I thank the CWA founders to have put faith and trust in me to be part of the leading team of this unique and exciting project. I will work untiringly to make this dream come true.
