CWA & colleges
The IBDP curriculum adopted at CWA is a globally recognized academic qualification, and CWA students aim to study in renowned higher education institutions in America, UK, and other regions upon graduation. Despite the various assessment criteria endorsed by different universities, a student’s prospective admission into them centers on his or her academic performance. Other factors, including language proficiency, standardized test score, extracurricular activities, interviews, etc., may carry important and different weights in the process.
Philosophy
CWA University Counseling Department (UCD) aims to support, guide, and educate students and families on their CWA journey into college. Rankings and reputation of a school can be useful indicators of its value; however, students thrive more in institutions that most fit their academic goal, personality, etc. While the result is important, so is the process. At UCD, we help students investigate into the outer world of colleges and their inner aspiration, so that students can find schools of good matches and prepare accordingly.
Methodology
UCD provides 3-year-long counseling supporting program to all CWA students upon their entering into the school. Our support comes from weekly/biweekly counseling lectures, regular 1-on-1 counseling talks with students or families, liaison with college representatives and other educational experts, as well as our proud role of being the information hub students and parents can trust in the sometimes-disorienting world of college applications. Starting from the 5th semester, we will guide students meticulously to ensure a smooth college application process in all aspects.
Principle
At UCD, we adhere to several policies regarding students’ application.
1. Students have to remain honest in all their application materials, including personal profile, family financial situation, activity details, and writing their own essays.
2. Students admitted to early decision universities are bound to matriculate, and upon receiving the letter, the student has to withdraw any other applications submitted.
3. In a single application season, a student cannot submit more than 12 university applications, so that they focus on improving the quality of their application. Applications to the UCAS system, University of California system, and the Ontario Universities system will only count for one application each.
Three-Year Planning
